Currently, Windows 10 is a hot operating system and many people have used it for work on a day to day basis. Thus, it's really important to know some skills to fully enjoy the OS and improve the user experience.
Compared to the previous Windows 8, Windows 10 has been changed a lot for the better. But, lots of the Win10 users don’t know many of the improvements and new features. Thus, I think it’s urgent to offer the following 2 things to help users get the most out of Windows 10.
- List the not so common/“hidden” functions to help users really tap into their computer’s full potential.
- Offer some useful skills to improve user experience.
Make Use of the “Hidden” Functionalities
In addition to installing regular updates and software patches, the following not so commonly used functions can help you fully enjoy Windows 10.
One: Show Desktop Button
If you are carefully enough, you may see a sliver of a button on the right-most taskbar. This button is actually called a Show Desktop button. If you open a lot of applications at the same time and want to see the desktop immediately, you may click on this button. After clicking, you’ll find all the windows are minimized to reveal the desktop.

How to show your desktop on Windows 10?
Two: Shake
Likewise, you may open many windows when working on your Windows 10 computer. However, there may be cases in which you need to work on only one window. At this time, you may grab onto the top of the window you need and then shake it around, instead of closing other windows one by one painstakingly.
After that, all the other windows will be minimized. To undo this action, you can just shake the window again.
Three: Snapping the Windows
There are also cases where you have to work in two programs at once. It would be great if you can see these two programs simultaneously. You may wonder if it’s possible to have them taken up half of the screen or sat in a corner of the screen.
Indeed, the snapping the windows function could help.
How to snap a window:
- Drag the window towards the corner of the screen (the place you want it to be).
- Push the window against the screen corner and then you’ll see an outline.
- You can set all four corners with different windows.
Shortcuts:
- Snap the window to left or right – select a window and hit the Windows Key + Left or Right.
- Snap the window to upper or lower corner – press the Windows Key + Up or Down.
Four: Storage Sense
If you’d like to keep your computer tidier and clutter free, you may turn to the Storage Sense function. After enabling, you can make it clear the temporary and unnecessary files automatically. In this way, you can free up the disk space for new data.
Five: Nearby Sharing
With the help of nearby sharing function, you’re able to share files between local devices easier. You don’t need to use alternative file sharing methods or messaging apps. Using both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi signals, this function is similar to the Airdrop function of Apple. Yet, you’re not suggested to share very large files, because it often takes far too long.
What if you have deleted files too large to recycle?
Of course, there are many other hidden functions, such as cross device, dynamic lock, and pin contacts to taskbar, waiting for you to discover so as to improve the user experience.
Please read this page if you don’t know whether to upgrade your system to Win10 or not.
