The fish brain USB drive looks pretty cool; it is made to look like that you’re storing data on the brain of a real fish. This idea was proposed by a Japanese Twitter user and it has attracted the attention of many people.
Fish Brain USB Drive Appears
Have ever heard of the fish brain USB drive – a USB flash drive that uses a fish’s brain to store data? There is an article on the Amazing Nara introduces this unusual USB drive. It is said that there are multiple electronic components in the fish brain USB flash drive and they are connected to the brain of a dead fish. This doesn’t make any sense at all to us.
You can find more detailed information on a page of “Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde”: the USB flash drive that adopts a small fish as the storage space was developed by a Japanese Twitter user @ni28_xp. A series of reports have been arranged in order to figure things out; and the result shows that the fish in that USB drive is only being used for design purposes.

Small Fish Design as Storage
It is actually a 32GB flash drive with a unique look.
- It seems like that the small silver-striped round herring fish is encased in resin and the storage is actually located in the brain of the small fish. Of course, this is not the fact.
- The fact is that it’s a normal tiny 32GB flash drive with a resin stick attached. What makes it special is – the adding of the wires and capacitors into the USB drive helps to create an illusion. Then, people begin to imagine.
There’s no need to worry about the PETA; the designer @ni28_xp has bought the silver-striped round herrings, which were going to be part of the meal, from the local neighborhood supermarket. Then, he used those fishes in USB drives.
About the Designer
Indeed, @ni28_xp is a chemistry student who is studying resins currently. He pointed out that the fish brain USB drive is actually a handmade USB flash drive; you can see a lot of electronic parts which have been connected to a small fish captured in a transparent resin. He uses the small fish as part of his design to make this drive quite different from others. It seems that has a knack for creating intriguing things.
Sale
This creepy but special has been exhibited and sold at HandMade In Japan Fes 2019 – an event held at Tokyo Big Sight on January 12, 2019. @ni28_xp has made a price for this 32 GB USB 3.0 item: 7,800 yen ($72 US Dollars); it is not cheap. USB has the features of fast transmission speed, convenient usage, hot swappable, flexible connection, independent power supply, etc. It plays an important role in connecting computer with almost all external devices, such as mouse, keyboard, printer, scanner, camera, charger, USB Flash Drive, MP3, cell phone, digital camera, mobile hard disk, external optical floppy, USB card, ADSL Modem and Cable Modem. That’s why there are so many USB drives and so many people devote their time to developing new USB drives.
