On October 14, 2021, Microsoft released Windows 11 Insider Preview build 22478 to Insiders in the Dev Channel. On the occasion of the 7th anniversary of the Windows Insider Program, Microsoft releases two special desktop wallpapers to Insiders.

Besides, Microsoft began to test Update Stack Packages, which is designed to deliver update improvements outside of the major OS (operating system) updates like new builds.

The previous Dev Channel Windows 11 builds from the RS_PRERELEASE branch will expire on 10/31/2021. You’d better update your Windows 11 to this build in time.

New Fluent Emoji Added

• The updated version of the Korean IME is available to all users in the Dev Channel.
• When your laptop is closed, you can use your Facial Recognition (Windows Hello) on your connected monitor to login to your device if it has a supported camera attached.
• Change the underlying indexer platform to improve overall reliability and database size. This can reduce disk space usage in the system especially when users have very large Outlook mailboxes.
• You can adjust the volume level by scrolling the mouse wheel on the volume icon in the taskbar.
• When you add a new language in Settings, the dialog is more modern with round corners.

Microsoft fixed many issues in this latest Windows 11 Insider preview build, including the issues that happen to the Start menu, taskbar, File Explorer, Widgets, Search, etc.

How to Get Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22478?

Update to the Latest Windows 11 Preview Build

Step 1: Click Start.

Step 2: Go to Settings > Windows Update to check whether Windows 11 Insider Preview 22478.1000 (re_prerelease) is available.

Step 3: Click the Download now button to start the downloading and installing process. It is a quick process to complete the Windows 11 preview build from the RS_PRERELEASE branch. Your computer will restart several times during the process. The whole process may even last for an hour. Please be patient.
