Apple WWDC 2019 – macOS Catalina
Apple’s next generation macOS – macOS Catalina – will take everything you do above and beyond. The highlight features of macOS 10.15 include cross-platform app for third-party apps. Catalina will bring many third-party iOS apps to the Mac. Developers will create Mac apps from the iPad apps with Project Catalyst. There will be no more iTunes in macOS Catalina. iTunes will be split into three all-new apps: Music, Apple TV, and Apple Podcasts. Everything that exists in iTunes library before is still accessible in each of these three apps.
The new Sidecar feature lets users extend workspace to iPad and use iPad as a second Mac display. By combining the smarter Apple Pencil with Sidecar, users can use Apple Pencil to draw/sketch/mark screenshots or PDFs, design in Illustrator, edit photos, and easily display them on your Mac. The Sidecar is compatible with Adobe Illustrator, Affinity Photo, Cinema 4D, ZBrush, etc.
New Screen Time feature lets users set apps, websites and communication limits across all Apple devices, e.g., set a limit on gaming for kids.
The new Find My app integrates Find My iPhone and Find My Friends into a single app on Mac. It enables users to track devices even they are offline. By sending out Bluetooth signals that can be detected by other Apple devices near the lost Mac, these Apple devices can locate and send the position of the lost Mac to iCloud, so as to locate the lost device in Find My app.
Voice Control lets users who can’t use a Mac in a traditional way to use Mac, iPadOS, and iOS devices totally with their voice.
