In the latest preview builds of Windows 10 1903 update, the company has updated the search experience in File Explorer with a new modification.

Microsoft wants to make a new change on the search experience of File Explorer because many users have been asking for increased consistency across the platform, and they also want to find their needed files more quickly and easily. And we believe that these are also you want to get.

Due to this reason, Microsoft introduces a new File Explorer search experience which is powered by Windows Search to Windows 10 20H1. After this modification, you will be able to search for your OneDrive content with the traditional search results.

What’s New in Windows 10 File Explorer?

In the Windows 10 update, there will be a new dropdown result which shows up when you search for data in File Explorer. Here, it is the new search experience that is powered by Windows Search and it is designed to populate your data quickly. Then, you can click on entry in the new suggestion box to open any of these results directly.

Well, you can also right-click on the entry to get the file location. Moreover, it will be possible for you to dig deeper into the search results of File Explorer. Here, you need to press the Enter button to access the traditional search results page with tons of entries.

As to the dropdown list, it also comes with the search history features. What does this mean? When you press the entry in the suggested box and open the search box in Windows 10 File Explorer once again, you will be able to see the dropdown list with the previously accessed items.

There is still another big change which is worth mentioning. Microsoft has made the search box of the Windows 10 File Explorer much wider by default. Thus, the suggestion dropdown list will have room to render quick results.

However, the width of the search box is not fixed. You can move your mouse to the starting border of the search box to customize the size of the search box. This is easy and convenient. You may like this design very much.

All these new changes in Windows 10 File Explorer will be released in Windows 10 May 2019 Update in the late of this month.
