Western Digital launched new additions and enhancements to its most affordable NVMe all-flash storage array, the new IntelliFlash N5100. In this post, we will show some detailed specifications of this new IntelliFlash N5100. Keep on your reading.

Western Digital has launched the new IntelliFlash N5100, which is the most affordable NVMe all-flash storage array for any workload. Western Digital claims to double its available performance &density and enhance certain features of data migration for hybrid cloud mobility.

What Is Western Digital IntelliFlash?

In 2017, IntelliFlash became part of Western Digital through the acquisition of Tegile, which brings lasting, high-performance storage under the WD banner. The company is now adding an entry-level NVMe array using the IntelliFlash N5100.

This makes the N-series of products more complete, and other larger models of the IntelliFlash N5200 and IntelliFlash N5800 are available. Now, entry-level for large enterprises can take advantage of the performance of the IntelliFlash NVMe array.

NVMe SSD, software-defined flash management, and rich enterprise data service performance were added to IntelliFlash N-Series arrays, which can deliver scalable capacity-sharing storage and high-performance to accelerate any business workload.

To take full advantage of the new array, Western Digital also updated the operating system to IntelliFlash OS 3.10. This operating system update allows mixing and matching different IntelliFlash arrays to address specific workloads.

The IntelliFlash OS 3.10 is said to double the performance of the N5800 to achieve best-in-class random performance in a full-featured mid-range all-flash array with IOPS up to 1.7M and latency as low as 200μs. Minimize data center footprints storing up to 365TB3 in 2RU and 2.4PB raw flash capacity in 14 Rack Units (RU).

The IntelliFlash OS 3.10 also supports the use of 15TB NVMe SSD, which will double the capacity of some IntelliFlash models. This allows IntelliFlash to scale from 19TB to 2.5PB raw in 14U space.

What Is New on IntelliFlash N5100

The IntelliFlash N5100 is suitable for customers who need NVMeTM performance that meets their unique capacity requirements and economics. The IntelliFlash N5100 has six main highlights: faster and faster, denser and denser, richer and richer, simpler got simpler, highly available and data utility service.

It can seamlessly blend cloud data mobility, which makes it easy to connect private storage to cloud storage, improve operational efficiency, and maximize your storage investments. Besides, there are 6 nines available with on-line software upgrades and cloud data mobility, and it also offers flexible storage service models for fast data.

Following are the applications and workload of the IntelliFlash N5100:

  • Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning
  • Scientific Simulations
  • Autonomous Vehicle
  • Fast Edge Analytics
  • Databases, On-line Transaction Processing (OLTP)
  • Virtual Servers, Virtual Desktops
