Windows 10 Insiders Preview Build 18936 Is Released

To offer you the best user experience, Microsoft always keeps releasing some new updates with some new features and improvements. Recently, it has rolled out the latest Windows 10 Insiders Preview Build 18936 (20H1) to Windows Insiders in the Fast ring.

This new build includes some new features:

  1. More Surface devices support the Phone Screen feature in Your Phone app now
  2. Quick event create from the taskbar
  3. Go passwordless with Microsoft accounts on your device

In addition, this new update also includes general changes, improvements, fixes for the PC and known issues. To learn more information, go to Microsoft’s blog article on Windows 10 Preview Build 1896.

In the build, the remarkable feature is the password-free sign-in the Microsoft account. In the following section, let’s go to know something.

Sign in Windows 10 Without Password

According to the blog article, you are allowed to sign in your Windows 10 device without requiring a password; it has been added to Sign-in options. This is to improve device security and provide a more seamless sign-in experience with you.

To use this feature, you can go to the Start menu to find Settings, choose Accounts and go to the Sign-in options page. Then, turn the passwordless sign-in option on.

After enabling password sign-in, you will switch all the Microsoft accounts on your device running Windows 10 to modern authentication. Instead, you are able to sign in with a PIN number, Fingerprint, and Microsoft’s facial-recognition software – Windows Hello.

If you haven’t set up Windows Hello, Windows will walk you through the setup experience when you sign in the PC next time. Besides, Microsoft also explains why a Windows Hello PIN is more secure than a password in a guide.

But there is something you should pay attention to: currently, the passwordless sign-in option is only rolled out to a small portion of Windows Insiders users in the Fast ring. And this option may not show to all of you in Settings. If yes, go back to check in a week.

Public Preview of Azure AD’s FIDO2 Security Keys Support

Speaking of no password, Microsoft also announced a public preview of FIDO2 security keys support in Azure Active Directory (Azure AD). This means that you can use a FIDO2 security key, Windows Hello, or the Microsoft Authenticator app to sign in without needing a password.

Actually, this is not the first time that Microsoft uses a security key or Windows Hello. Last November, Microsoft made it possible to use a FIDO2 security key or Windows Hellow to sign in all Microsoft accounts without a password.
