Windows 10 version 1909 preview has been released from the 19H2 branch by Microsoft, and about 10% of insiders are able to experience manually from the Windows Update. In addition, Slow ring users can’t switch the Release Preview ring to get Windows update.

Introduction of Windows 10 Version 1909 Preview

A new preview of Windows 10 version 1909 is more designed for testing how Microsoft releases Windows 10 but not for providing new features, and now it has been released from 19H2 branch by Microsoft.

Tip: If you want to update your Windows, you’d better use MiniTool software to back up important data in case of data loss during updating.

Microsoft adapts many ways to improve feature updates after the problems encountered during the delayed Windows 10 1809 release, and the latest preview of Windows 10 19H2 is one of the methods.

Microsoft has revealed in July that it wants to release future September-targeted Windows 10, and this version is more like a monthly update. Besides, this is why the build from 19H2 branch carries the same baseline build number as the May 2019 Update.

Compared to the old service pack, Windows 10 version 1909 preview is better because it used to employ before shifting to Windows 10 as a service model. Before Microsoft stops provide security support for Windows 7 on January 14th, 2020, Windows 10 version 1909 will provide 30 months of support and will be the last Windows 10 feature update.

What’s more, Windows 10 version 1909 preview, build 18363.327, marks that Microsoft begins to test the Throttled Approach, which will be used for Windows Insider tester on the Release Preview ring because it offers more stable builders than the Fast and Slow rings.

Microsoft said: “This is not the final 19H2 build that we intend to make available via the Release Preview ring once we are closer to launch. For a small subset of Insiders (around 10%) in the Release Preview ring, we have enabled the ‘seeker’ experience for 19H2.”

Tip: You can click Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > Check for updates to check whether you can update to Windows 10 version 1909 preview.

However, build 18363.327 Windows Insiders cannot see what features Slow ring uses have got, and Slow ring users cannot switch to the Release Preview ring and get updates, too. Therefore, Microsoft suggests Insiders who are considering switching rings should stay put for now, and it will inform those Insiders when it is suitable to make the switch.

This Release Preview build is similar to two dual-build releases in August that there were 2 versions of an August 8 preview for the Slow ring, which either had new features turned on or off by default.

There is another aspect of Microsoft’s new method to make faster and smoother updates, which is providing some feature updates with some features turned off.

Microsoft launched 2 versions of 19H2 for the Slow ring on August 19 and also with new features either on or off by default. The new features Microsoft delivered consist of the capability to create an event from the Calendar flyout on the Taskbar, tweaks to the Start Menu and notification updates.
