Galax HOF Pro M.2 PCIe 4.0 SSDs will be available in the coming weeks this month. Are you familiar with this drive? Do you know its merits? Are there any attractive features in it? Now, in this post, we will show you the related information we know so far.
HOF Pro M.2 SSD Is a New Product from Galax
Galax HOF Pro M.2 PCIe 4.0 SSD is a new product that was already announced recently by the company. The drive is using the latest PCIe 4.0 standard, and it is reported that this new HOF Pro M.2 SSD will be released to the market this month.
Aesthetically, Galax HOF Pro M.2 PCIe 4.0 SSD is a carbon copy of Galax's previous HOF M.2 offering. The later drive is still in production with a white PCB (Printed Circuit Board) that's passively cooled with a full-cover white aluminum heatsink decked with a copper heat pipe for heat dissipation.
Interface, Controller, and Chips
The drive does accord with the M.2 2280 format and take advantage of the PCIe 4.0 x4 interface that is currently only supported on the new AMD Ryzen 3000-series CPUs and motherboards with the X570 chipset.
HOF Pro M.2 SSD is using Phison's high-performance PS5016-E16 controller that is under the hood of the drive. Then, the controller is paired with Toshiba's 96-layer BiCS4 3D TLC (triple-level cell) NAND chips.
Unlike other SSD manufacturers, this Galax HOF Pro M.2 PCIe 4.0 SSD also offers 500GB capacity besides 1TB and 2TB.
Sequential Read and Write Speeds
The data handling speed of this drive is one attractive feature. In detail, the sequential performance of HOF Pro M.2 SSD varies from model to model.
For example, the 500GB model can deliver a sequential read speed of 5,000 MBps and a sequential write speed of 2,500 MBps. The 1TB drive offers sequential read and write speeds of 4,900 MBps and 4,400 MBps respectively. If you are using the 2TM model, you will be able to enjoy sequential read speed up to 5,000 MBps and write speed up to 4,400 MBps.
As to the random performance, it is the same across all capacities models: the random read and write speeds of the drive can reach up to 750,000 IOPS and 700,000 IOPS respectively.
To guarantee its maximum performance, the SSD is designed with a large aluminum cooling system that features a copper heat pipe.
Due to this cooling system, you will be unable to use this drive on a laptop. However, at present, there are no laptops that are based on AMD’s X570 platform. So, it is not a big problem.
As mentioned above, this drive is using white PCB. It will be appreciated by modders with white components.
Besides, the company also supplies the drive with Xtreme Tuner software for SSD. With this software, you will be able to monitor temperature, endurance, and other information about the drives so as to enable its higher performance and reliability.
Some other technologies are also used for data protection, such as LDPC, TCG OPAL, Pyrite, etc. in addition, another effective way to protect files on Galax HOF Pro M.2 PCIe 4.0 SSD is to back them up. MiniTool ShadowMaker, a dedicated file back software, should be a good choice.

Till now, we still don’t know the endurance, warranty and prices. But, they will be released this month. Thus, we will get the related information soon enough.
