Is Destiny 2 Steam Transfer Necessary
Initially, the Windows version of Destiny 2 game was distributed exclusively through the Blizzard Battle.net. However, Bungie and Activision together broke the publishing agreement in January, 2019. Since then, Bungie became the game publisher for the PC version of Destiny 2.
The result is: the Windows version of Destiny 2 needs to be transferred to Steam since the release of the Shadowkeep expansion in October 2019. Bungie offered the Destiny 2 Steam transfer service since August 20, 2020 and it will be end until December 1, 2020 at 9:00 AM PST. You must transfer Destiny 2 to Steam before that date; otherwise, all the existing licenses, Silver, and characters will be lost.
What Does the Deadline Mean
Destiny 2 is free-to-play on Steam. If you have a Windows version, you should migrate it to Steam before December 1, 2020, instead of buying it again. However, if you didn’t finish the transfer before that date, you’ll lose the access to the Battle.net version. You are still allowed to move the character of Destiny 2 from your consoles to Steam, or vice versa.
