Marvell has released the Marvell 88SS1320 series SSD controller which is the industry’s lowest power PCIe Gen 4 NVMe SSD controller portfolio. It includes the Marvell 88SS1321, Marvell 88SS1322, and Marvell 88SS1323. We will show more information about them in the following part.
Marvell Releases the 88SS1320 Series SSD Controllers

At recently, Marvell has released the industry’s lowest power PCIe Gen 4 NVMe SSD controllers and they are Marvell 88SS1320 series SSD controllers including the Marvell 88SS1321, Marvell 88SS1322, and the Marvell 88SS1323. They represent the industry’s first PCIe Gen 4 DRAM and DRAM-less SSD controllers to be made on a 12mm process.
These Marvell 88SS1320 series SSD controllers come in four different interfaces covering PCIe Gen 4×4, Gen 4×2, Gen 3×4 and Gen 3×2. Because these Marvell 88SS1320 SSD controllers can support all existing and emerging M.2(2210 to 2230), BGA, EDSFF and U.2 form factors, they would be an ideal choice for Cloud data center server compute storage, enterprise boot drives, PC client storage and gaming storages as well as some emerging industrial and edge device applications.

The Marvell 88SS1320 series SSD controllers come in the NVMe Standard Revision 1.3c compliance, supporting host memory buffer option.
With these features, the Marvell 88SS1320 series SSD controllers provide good performance. As for Marvell 88SS1321 and Marvell 88SS1322, their transfer speed can reach up to 3.9GB/s. However, as to the Marvell 88SS1323, its transfer speed can reach up to 3.5GB/s. Hence, it enables users to transfer files quickly.

It provides three different data protection including the end-to-end data protection, OTP support for secure drive configuration, and AES encryption hardware. What’s more, this new Marvell 88SS1320 series SSD controller enables the next generation 3D and QLC NAND devices that maximize cost efficiency and reduce total cost of ownership. It supports the stand-alone SSD controller and NAND unit being mounted side-by-side on a single-sides ultra-compact M.2 2230 form factor SSD due to its ultra-compact DRAM-less controller architecture.
