Phidisk is a new coming in data storage device industry. Phidisk WrathKeeper SSD is one of its 2.5-inch SSD. To make you better understand of it, we will test its performance and show you a review in this post.

Have you ever heard of Phidisk? It is a new brand in the solid-state drive market today and it offers a few different series of SSDs. Each series has a different character name such as WrathKeeper.

Now, in this post we will show you the review of Phidisk WrathKeeper 240GB SSD in all respects.

Specifications

The Phidisk WrathKeeper SSD is a 2.5-inch drive, and it is using the SATA III host interface. The read and write speed of the drive can be up to 570MB/s and 550MB/s respectively.

Now, the available capacities of the drive include 120GB, 240GB, 480GB, and 960GB. After getting the drive, you will get a 5 years limited warranty.

Packaging

Phidisk WrathKeeper 240GB SSD package

The package of the drive is very simple. There is nothing else in the package box, but it has a fancy-looking packaging.

The front side of the package is colorful which shows the appearance of the drive. The WrathKeeper is inspired by the Spartan uniform, engulfed in flames to give it some extra flair.

There is only the drive itself in the package, and there is absolutely nothing else in it,

Synthetic Benchmark

CrystalDiskMark

CrystalDiskMark is developed by a Japanese coder and its nickname is Hiyohiyo. It is one of the most frequent used SSD Benchmark utility which can be used to measure the SSD’s read and write performance.

Here are the test results of Phidisk WrathKeeper 240GB SSD.

AS SSD Benchmark

AS SSD Benchmark is a widely used SSD benchmark utility. It uses the incompressible data to simulate the worst possible scenario of the SSD and then give a much lower sequential read and write speed results than what has been stated by the manufacturer due tothe heavy workload.

Here are the test results of Phidisk WrathKeeper 240GB SSD.

AS SSD Benchmark

ATTO Disk Benchmark

ATTO Disk Benchmark can be used to test performance specification. Many manufacturers prefer to use this utility. It uses compressible data rather than incompressible data, thus, it results in higher benchmark scores relatively.

File Transfer Speed Test

To do file transfer speed test, we use a collection of data which includes large and small files with up to 30GB. And the files include both compressible and incompressible ones.

data transfer speed test

The read and write speed is consistent for both freshly installed drive and 89% filled. And here, the read and write speeds of the drive averaged at 390 MB/s and 440 MB/s. However, this transfer speed only happens when you transfer data from another SARA SSD. If you are using a normal hard disk, the average read and write speeds of the drive are 200~230 MB/s at most.

While, there is also one exception. When copying a single file which is larger than 10GB to Phidisk WrathKeeper 240GB SSD, the write speed suddenly drop to 100~150 MB/s after peaked at 440 MB/s.

Verdict

From the tests, you can see that the data transfer speeds of Phidisk WrathKeeper 240GB SSD don’t reach the advertised speeds of “up to 570MB/s” and “up to 550MB/s”. But, it still has a good speed. All in all, it has a relatively high cost performance.
