Toshiba Provides the Value RM5 SAS SSD for HPE ProLiant Servers

Toshiba, a very famous manufacturer around the world, devotes itself to researching and developing a lot of electronic products. It also has released a lot of storage products. For example, it has launched the helium-sealed SAS HDD and the Toshiba Canvio hard drive.

And recently, Toshiba has announced a kind of new SSD in the HPE ProLiant Servers and it is the Toshiba RM5 SAS SSD. It is the first time for Toshiba to introduce the vSAS SSD which the expected to replace enterprise SATA SSDs in most Servers applications.

This Toshiba Value SAS SSD comes in large storage size and delivers fast transfer speed. In addition, this Toshiba RM5 SAS SSD is a single-ported version of Toshiba Memory’s robust enterprise SAS product family and can provide fast read and write speed than the competing SATA SSDs, thus enabling better utilization of system resources under I/O intensive workloads.

Because the SATA interface is performance-limited, there is no future advancements are planned on its roadmap. However, in many data-intensive environments, SSDs based on SATA have become a bottleneck to servers, preventing the CPU from performing required operations or transactions in a timely manner. Therefore, Toshiba provides the Toshiba RM5 SAS SSD for HPE ProLiant Servers so that it can provide fast transfer speed.

The Toshiba RM5 SSD delivers twice the interface speed of the SATA, with the 12Gb/s links. In addition, this Toshiba RM5 SAS SSD is featured with the 3D flash memory and its storage size can range from 960GB to 7680GB so that it enables users to save a lot of files and data.

What’s more, the sequential read and write speed of this Toshiba RM5 SAS SSD can reach up to 838MB/s and 650MB/s. And the random read and write IOPS are up to 150,000 IOPS and 50,000 IOPS.

And the Jeremy Werner, senior vice president and general manager of Toshiba Memory America has said ‘In our system-level OLTP benchmarking, RM5 SSDs deliver 25 percent higher application-level performance at up to 85 percent lower transcational latency than SATA SSDs. By replacing SATA drives with VSAS drives in Servers, HPE customers can realize significantly improved system-level performance per dollar.

Besides the large capacity and high transmission rate, this Toshiba RM5 SAS SSD can also provide high data security and reliability. In addition, the Toshiba RM5 SAS SSD supports various levels of security features including Self-encrypting Drive and SIE configurations. Meanwhile, in order to protect your data and files well, you can choose to back up the files to other external hard drives.
