As the name suggests, the Windows 10 fall update was planned to come out the second half of 2019 (probably in September or October). The codename of this new update is 19H2, so it’s also known as the Windows 10 19H2 update.
What’s New in Windows 10 Fall Update
The Windows 10 19H2 seems to be the smallest and quickest Windows 10 update. Some people even regard it as the service pack. This is the first time that Microsoft works on offering a major feature update to improve an update that already exists. But undeniably, this new Windows 10 update will indeed bring some improvements and updates that you can’t find in 19H1. The following content introduces the main changes in Windows 10 19H2.
Create Calendar Event from Taskbar
One of the obvious changes you will find in the new Windows 10 update lies in calendar; you are allowed to create a calendar event from the taskbar directly (it’s much convenient than before).
- Find time and date area on your Windows 10 taskbar.
- Click on this area to open the calendar view.
- Select a date from the calendar.
- Type the exact event in a text box.
- Set the alert time period.
- Add a location if you like.
- Click on the Save button to confirm.
- Now you can see the event you’ve created on the calendar.

In 19H1, you can only see created calendar events by clicking the date and time area on taskbar. If you need to create new events or edit the existing events, you must open the Calendar app.
Better Performance
There are many improvements in the new Windows 10 update: battery life improvements, lower-latency digital inking, better scheduling of CPU resources, and so on.
Battery life:
According to Microsoft, it has made general battery life and power efficiency improvements for PCs with certain processors. This is not clear, but some users indeed experience a longer battery life on their PC.
Digital inking:
Your PC will be more responsive (the lower latency) thanks to the digital inking features. Microsoft has told manufacturers to reduce the inking latency on the basis of the hardware capabilities of Windows 10 devices.
CPU:
If you upgrade your system to the latest update, the performance of your computer with multi-core CPUs will be improved.
A CPU may have multiple favored cores (logical processors of the highest available scheduling class). To provide better performance and reliability, we have implemented a rotation policy that distributes work more fairly among these favored cores.– according to Microsoft

Allow Other Voice Assistants to Work on the Lock Screen
In the previous versions of Windows 10, Microsoft only allows Cortana to work on the lock screen. In the new Windows 10 update, Cortana won’t be the dominant voice assistant; you can set other assistants like Amazon Alexa to be running on the Windows 10 lock screen.

This is what Microsoft described: a change to enable third-party digital assistants to voice activate above the Lock screen.
More Convenient Notification Management
Notifications will be improved a lot in Windows 10 19H2; there will be exact images for notification banners and notifications in action center.
You are able to disable the sounds which will play if a notification appears by selecting: Settings -> System -> Notifications & actions.
In addition, you are allowed to configure notifications directly through the notification.
Of course, there are many other changes in the Windows 10 fall update waiting for you to discover.
