Windows 10 Build 17760 (RS5)

To fix some bugs and prepare for the release of Windows 10 October Update, Microsoft keeps pushing out some builds. On September 14, 2018, this company rereleased another new build – Windows 10 Preview Build 17760.1 (rs5_release) to the Fast ring.

This update is part of Windows 10 October 2018 Update. According to this company, the watermark and expiration date are removed. But it doesn’t mean that this build is the final version (RTM). As you can see from the version tracker, Redstone 5 has been pushed internally to 17763.

Windows 10 build 1770 is again a fairly minor release and it brings several bug fixes, along with and game compatibility improvements.

Here is what you need to know before installation. Let’s see the following part to learn more details.

Game Compatibility

As for the game compatibility, Microsoft has officially announced that Windows 10 October 2018 Update will work with all major Tencent games. Besides, this corporation also encourages other developers to contact with it so as to make sure Windows 10 is also compatible with their games.

“The Windows Compatibility Team is pleased to announce that the Windows 10 October 2018 Update will be fully compatible with all major Tencent games. Game compatibility can be challenging due to the complexity of the games and reliance on anti-cheat services. We’ve done this by partnering closely with Tencent to test these games, investigate issues and produce fixes. Our hard work has paid off: we are pleased to say that this will be a successful release for our shared customers!”Microsoft

Bug Fix in Windows 10 Build 17760 (RS5)

As to bug fixes, Build 17760 covers problems with Microsoft Edge, PDFs and .NET. Let’s see them:

  • Rendering problems when opening certain types of PDFs in Microsoft Edge.
  • NET 4.7.1 is not working correctly in previous builds.
  • A crash when using swipe to navigate back in Microsoft Edge.
  • An underflow in the Windows Security app that may result in the UI unexpectedly showing a very large number of threats had been found.
  • If some extensions are enabled, the Microsoft Edge crashes after pressing F12 on some web pages.
  • Icons on Microsoft Edge error pages disappear.

Interestingly, Microsoft does not disclose some known issues, which is good news. This indicates it is one step closer to the RTM build.
