At the end of November, we receive good news: Apple updated the iCloud application for Windows. In this new version, the stubborn bug which can prevented the cloud service from updating and syncing shared albums on the new released Windows 10 October 2018 Update was solved.

This issue was firstly discovered on iCloud for Windows version 7.7.0.27.
After installing the newest Windows 10 update, users found that they can’t use iCloud application on their computer for it needed the earlier version.

This issue was serious enough, and then Microsoft decided to put an update block in place for the computers which were already running iCloud to prevent them from installing the Windows 10 October 2018 Update.
“To ensure a seamless experience, Microsoft is blocking devices with iCloud for Windows (version 7.7.0.27) software installed from being offered Window 10, version 1809 until this issue has been resolved,” Microsoft made such a statement said at the time.
iCloud for Windows Compatibility Issue Was Solved
Now, this issue is solved and users can feel free to use iCloud on Windows 10 to make a cloud backup of their data, or restore their data when needed.

From the above support page, users can see that Microsoft advises them to upgrade to the latest iCloud version for Windows before updating to the latest version of Windows 10.
“We recommend that you update your iCloud for Windows to version 7.8.1 when prompted before attempting to upgrade to Windows 10, version 1809,” Microsoft says on the Windows 10 1809 support page which you can see from the above table.
Of course, Windows 10 users can also download the latest iCloud version for Windows from the Apple’s official site.
On the other hand, as noted by 9to5Mac, Apple amended the minimum requirements for iCloud for Windows. Before the fix, it said like this: iCloud for Windows 7.7 and later requires Microsoft Windows 7 through Windows 10 April 2018 Update… Now it says like this: iCloud for Windows 7.8.1 requires Microsoft Windows 7 or later…
Windows 10 October 2018 Update Bugs
After the release of Windows 10 October 2018 update, a lot of bugs have appeared, and Microsoft has take some actions to reduce the negative influence.
