Microsoft has launched a Always Connected PCs protect which wants to run Windows 10 on ARM processors. Besides, it is working with Google to bring Chrome to Window 10 on ARM. Now, you can read this news to get its current process.
Always Connected PCs: Running Windows 10 on ARM Processors
The technology world is developing with a very fast speed. As to the technology of computing, the evolution from desktop computing to mobile computing has changed the way we work largely.
To keep pace with the rapid development of Windows operating system (OS), Microsoft has planned an ambitious project of Always Connected PCs which is running Windows 10 on ARM processors.
As a matter of fact, the traditional Windows OS is based on the x86 platform, while the ARM system on chip (SoC) is totally different.
Due to this reason, Microsoft then utilized an emulator which can be used to emulate x86 based parts of OS and applications to the ARM on Always Connected PCs.
However, the above mentioned emulation does not work well all the time. What is the result? Finally, it is proved that the first generation Windows 10 ARM devices have no great performance as expected.
Reading here, you may want to know why this project is not so successful, and what the cause of this issue is. Now, if you care about this Google Chrome is coming to Windows 10 on ARM topic, you can find the answer in the following part.
The Process of Running Windows 10 on ARM Processors
The main limitation of this project is that the small number of the apps which support ARM natively. In detail, many apps in the Microsoft Store can support ARM. However, there are more popular ones which do not support ARM64 natively.
In addition, the emulator is able to run x86 based software while the interface reaction is very slow and buggy. Thus, users will have a very poor experience. Of course, this can cause bad influence on the Always Connected PCs protect.
This is not the end.
You may know that Google Chrome can’t support any Microsoft modern projects. And of course, you can find no Google apps in the Microsoft Store. As a result, the browser is unavailable on Windows 10 ARM. But, this will change in the future for these two big and rival tech giants are reportedly working together to make it is possible to run Chrome on Always Connected ARM PCs natively.
Last week, Qualcomm admitted that Google is going to bring Chrome browser to Windows 10 on ARM. Recently, a report proves the truth of this saying, and shows that Microsoft & Google are working together to make Google Chrome work on Windows 10 ARM.

The final launch data of Chrome for Windows 10 ARM is not decided yet. But it is obviously a big win for Microsoft because the Always Connected PCs project is just for light PC users, and there are of course more and more users would like to use Google Chrome over other browsers.
You should know that Google can’t publish its Chrome in the Microsoft Store because the Windows 10 marketplace doesn’t allow the third-party browser engines.
Microsoft has already worked with the Qualcomm Company to improve Always Connected PCs performance, and we believe that it can work as good as the traditional desktops sooner or later.
