How to Print Excel with Lines – 2 Ways

Way 1

  1. To print Excel spreadsheets with lines between cells, you can set the print area in Excel.
  2. Next, click Page Layout Check the Print option under Gridlines in the Sheet Options section. This will print the gridlines in the Excel file. You can click File -> Print or press Ctrl + P to preview the effect in the Print Preview pane.

Way 2

  1. Open the Excel sheet you want to print. Click File -> Print or press Ctrl + P.
  2. Click the Page Setup link under Settings.
  3. In the Page Setup window, click Sheet tab.
  4. Check the Gridlines option under Print. Click OK to save the settings to print Excel with lines.

Please be aware that Excel doesn’t print gridlines around empty cells in the worksheet. If you want to print the blank rows and columns with gridlines as well, you can use the Print Area feature to set the print range.

How to Change the Printed Gridline Color

  1. To change the color of printed gridlines, you can click File -> Options to open Excel Options window.
  2. Click Advanced in the left panel.
  3. Scroll down in the right pane to find Display options for this worksheet option, and click the drop-down icon to select the Excel sheet that you want to change the gridline color. Also make sure that Show gridlines option is checked.
  4. Then you can click the drop-down icon next to Gridline color and choose the color you like. Click OK to save the settings. Then you can print the Excel spreadsheet with lines.

How to Print Excel Row and Column Headings

When you print an Excel sheet, it won’t print the row and column headings by default, but you can print the headings if you want.

  1. Open the target Excel sheet. Click Page Layout tab at the toolbar.
  2. Then in Sheet Options section, you can check the Print box under Headings. This only prints the row and column headings of the currently selected sheet. If you want to print the headings of other sheets, you should select each sheet and do the same operation.

How to Print Titles in Excel

  1. Go to the Excel sheet you want to print with titles.
  2. Click Page Layout tab and check Print Titles in the Page Setup section.
  3. Next, you can click the square-arrow icon in the Page Setup section to open Page Setup dialog.
  4. Click Sheet tab.
  5. Under Print titles, you can click the icon next to Rows to repeat at top, and then select the row(s) in the Excel sheet that you want to print on every page. Similarly, click the icon next to Columns to repeat at left, and select the column(s) that you want to repeat at left. Click OK to save the settings.
  6. Then you can print the Excel sheet and the selected rows and columns are printed on every page.
