2019 is a new year now. You may ask what Windows 10 predictions in 2019 are. Of course, there are some wishes about Windows 10. In this post, we will show you the predictions about Windows Lite, Windows update, Chromium Edge, Windows Cortana, WIndwos Search, and more.
2018 has been a tough year for Windows. Now, it is 2019 and we can think about what will happen to Windows this year. There are 4 Windows 10 predictions in 2019, and we will show you in the following contents.
Microsoft Unveils Windows Lite
In 2019, there were some rumors about Windows Lite. It is said that it is a competitor for Chrome OS which focused on web experience. At that time, we know nothing about it. Much internal news show that it is on track. Now, if Microsoft can keep its internal schedule, you will see it at BUILD 2019 in the spring.
Microsoft updates Windows Update
Windows 10 October 2018 Update has experienced a difficult period in 2018 as there were many bugs in it. Thus, we have reasons to believe that there will be some improvements in the Windows 10 update in 2019.
However, we don’t think that Microsoft will become one update a year. But we think that it will improve the Windows update so as to make the update rebooting process to install that update to be minimal like Android and Chrome OS.
To be specific, when a new update is available on those platforms, it can be downloaded and installed onto a mirror OS image. Usually, after installing the update, the OS will tell you to restart the machine to complete the update. But the reality is that the OS is changing from the live image to the mirror image where the new version has been installed. It can result in a restart which can last for only a few seconds.
It may be different to that system in the technical side of things. The update would be faster and the download time would be less. These improvements may be special for Windows Core OS devices, but we hope they can also be used on the traditional Windows 10.
On the other hand, we also expect to see some extra care when a feature update is released. Windows 10 October 2018 update had deleted some users’ files and this is a serious bug. We think this issue will not happen since Microsoft will test the new update internally and externally vigorously before releasing a new update.
Chromium Edge launches to the masses
In 2018, Microsoft was using the new Edge browser built on Chromium. Now, the new Edge version is being built. The internal employees can download and test the latest alpha builds. It has already supported Microsoft Account login, syncing bookmarks and more to the browser.
Microsoft has officially announced that the developers are expected to see the preview build of the new browser version in the first half of 2019. We think it will come in the springtime.
Search and Cortana are reworked on Windows 10
It is said that there will be some new changes in Windows Search and Windows Cortana, and we think they will come in 2019.
Microsoft has made A/B testing a split between both Cortana and search experiences in 19H1. If the changes continue, Microsoft will need to redesigh these two experiences. This process will be rough.
Some users have said that these two experiences in Windows 10 are not good compared with other Windows version. Thus, we will see more changes in the future.
