To download and use Microsoft 365 desktop version, you can use Microsoft 365 free trial, but you can only try Microsoft 365 for one month. To continue using Microsoft Office products, you need to pay for a Microsoft 365 subscription.

Microsoft 365 Home plan offers a monthly subscription and yearly subscription. You can choose your preferred subscription mode based on your preference. You need to renew your Microsoft 365 subscription when the subscription expires. This post mainly explains how to renew your Microsoft 365 subscription.

How to Renew Microsoft 365 Subscription/License

By default, your Microsoft 365 subscription is set up for recurring billing. If you want, you can also manually renew your subscription by following the guide below.

Step 1. If you have subscribed to a Microsoft 365 home plan like Microsoft 365 Family or Microsoft 365 Personal, you can go to the official Office renewal page to renew your Microsoft 365 subscription.

Step 2. After you are on the Office renewal page, you can choose a preferred option. On this page, you can click the Renew now button under Microsoft 365 Family or Microsoft 365 Personal to pay for the full year of Microsoft 365. Optionally, you can also click the “or renew with a monthly subscription for $9.99/$6.99 per month” link to pay for a month at a time. If you want to switch to a different subscription when you renew like switching from Microsoft 365 Personal to Microsoft 365 Family, you can choose the subscription you want.

Step 3. Then you can review your shopping cart and click Checkout.

Step 4. Enter your password for your Microsoft account that you use to sign in to Microsoft 365. Click the Sign in button.

Step 5. Check if your order is right and click Renew subscription to renew your Microsoft 365 subscription.

Step 6. You can also click Manage subscription to go to your Microsoft account, Services & subscriptions page where you can check your detailed subscription information like the expiration date, payment method, etc.

Step 7. After renewing your subscription, it will set up recurring billing and you will be charged automatically on the expiration date. If you want to turn off the recurring billing, you can click Manage on the Services & subscriptions page, and click the Turn off recurring billing link to turn recurring billing off.

After you turn off the recurring billing, you won’t be automatically charged on the expiration date. If you want to renew the subscription, you can manually do it.

To turn on the recurring billing again, you can go to the Manage page again and click the Turn on recurring billing link.

Alternatively, you can also click Cancel to cancel your Microsoft 365 subscription. You will still have access to your subscription until it expires.

Tips:

If the subscription is already expired, you can view the target subscription by checking your billing list on the Subscriptions page, click Reactivate for the expired subscription to buy and renew the subscription.

If you bought Microsoft 365 from a retailer store and have a product key, you can go to the store to buy a Microsoft 365 subscription again and enter the 25-character product key to activate Microsoft Office again.
